Alhamdulillah …. Thanks to the Almighty for allowing me to be alive to see the start of a new year.
The start of 2015 begins with the start of new school term for all children. It’s a new beginning for my youngest, a new school, new uniforms, new friends and teachers … a total new environment.
Next, to begin 2015 will be the celebration for our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.’s birthday!
12 Rabi’ul awal will fall on 3rd Jan 2015. Its a day which we, muslims, celebrate the birth of our beloved Prophet s.a.w.
You do not have to wait for the mosque or attend big maulids events to celebrate the birthday, but as a family, we can start our own mini celebration of this great day! For example, a recitation of the selawat can be done together with our children. A sedeqah (charity) as small as a $1 can be done quietly with the intention to give to Rasulullah s.a.w. as a gift and many more small actions that insya’Allah can be done to show our gratitude to our great teacher s.a.w.
Whatever actions we intend to do, it’s a blessings to be able to do so and no small act is a waste or meaningless. As a reminder to myself first and foremost, it is good to remember that the act of giving (be it charity or gifts to others) is an act of sunnah. An act that can help brings relationships closer … be it among humans or with our creator.
Other ways to celebrate would be to read on Rasulullah s.a.w sirah and/or do any kinds of sunnah Rasulullah s.a.w. A simple sunnah would be to smile. Smiling is the easiest and a good way to spread goodness among us.
Alhamdulillah, on this blessed Friday, I have the pleasure to visit a close friend and my parents’ abode. May Allah swt blessed their souls.
Also, a big thank you for the couple who kindly offered and gave me a lift just now. May Allah swt rewards them handsomely for their kindness. amiinn…
