Last Saturday, I brought my 2 girls to Causeway Point. Window shoppings plus meeting up with 2 of my friends. We had lunch at the newly open Penang Street Buffet.
We were one of the first customer to enter the restaurant. I like the decor even though the place is small yet the ambiance is cosy and nice. Definitely coming back, and will bring my husband and eldest daughter along next time. I think they will enjoy it too!
Besides enjoying the foods …. the company was good. Talking and laughing, it been sooo long! These two friends of mine really are fun-going and always knows how to make people laugh.
Among the foods that was served, my favourite is the Assam Laksa. Yumss!!!
There are many variety or type of Laksa (a type of vermicelli). In Singapore, we have the Laksa Siglap, Nyonya Laksa and Assam Laksa.
Assam Laksa if I’m not mistaken originated from Penang … that is why they have it at the Penang Buffet.
It tasted sour and spicy …. a really beautiful combination for the palate. The based is mainly made of fish which is poached and flake, add the tamarind juice for the bit of sour taste. It also uses ‘petis’ to enhance the taste of the gravy. But adding the ‘petis’ is an optional choice.
Besides the Assam Laksa, my no. 2 choice would be the Ayam Belacan (Belacan Chicken). The chickens are fried with spices that includes ‘belacan” and somehow it works with these spices… not only very aromatic but yummylicious too!
The variety served at the buffet is good. There are 2-3 types of noodles, Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai, Vegetables, Seafood, Rojak, Chickens, dumplings, etc.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Penang Buffet is indeed Daebak!
